City of Gold so many stories of you are told Oh, sweet Jerusalem City of gold! To keep you free, men fight by your side And for your sake Many have died. so many soldiers have fallen at your gate Struggling to save you From any grim fate. Fro you Jerusalem, all through the ages Though greatly outnumbered Stood soldiers and sages, Ready to die for your sweet existence Same as soldiers now Fighting on with persistence. So many of us wish, that we could have gave Our lives in place of The heroes willing to save You sweet Jerusalem, in days present and old; The grandest of places, Our city of gold. We can not die for them, but each day Place a stone on their tombs And a shema we can say. littleC In memorie of all those who have fallen for the sake of Jerusalem. Hi littleC, with a big heart! Good idea and well written. Just a little trivia: Isaiah 62:1-4; the new Jerusalem will be called, "Hephzibah" (symbolic name of Jerusalem) and the symbolic name for the land of Caanan or Palestine will be "Beulah".  Again, Thank you for sharing your time spent in Jerusalem. Your experiences there are a fortaste of a "Glorious Time" to come as expressed in Revelation 21. True, many have suffered and died for that Great City of Gold, but not without notice and reward in the Life to come... Bob <>< |
