Lift, for one brief while, your eyes, And let remembrance flood their depths. Remembrance, not of me... I would not ask so much; But remembrance of a dream Which once you knew. Cause the sordid, weary world That now claims you as its own, To crumble at your plodding feet Until its impregnable steel, And its shining rails Shall writhe impotently To lie at length, as shadows On some dark embittered past; And let each granite block Fall in moldering dust to strew The tortuous streets, till buried Lie their rancors and their lust. ...Raise then once more Your weighted eyes That for so long have ceased to dream, And forgotten in their blindness That there is more than gold. Forgotten that a flower, Or bird, or leaf, or tree Are older in their strength Than all the powers man has wrought; And when the havoc he himself has made Has swept him in a juggernaut of wrath To some perdition of forgotten things, Still, in the far distances shall bloom The fields he could not touch. ...So stand high on a greensward hill, And raise to the sky your toil-bent head, That you may know once more The cleansing touch of rain, And mingle with its cooling drops A fleeting tear... For he who weeps may never lose In its entirety...a dream. |

And now you know why I do not live in CA or NY...but here, in the heartland, where I found my way... Good stuff, Rex! Thanks for sharing... Sunny ~~~Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow. Helen Keller ~~~ When you want to be loved, look within...KRJ |

Rex; This is wonderful....the embittered heart and the moment of tears that allow the heart to know that it is not hardened by the pain, but can live on and dream again. Ellie Summers haunting melody that awakens the butterflies, calling them to join the dance in their silent song of praise to God. eL |
