A Softly Lighted Moment

I lay beside you this morning
Watching you in dawn's quiet light
Listening to the gentle sounds of you
The glide of your hand on the sheets
Your measured and tender breathing
Your murmur when you stretch
Like a cat settling into sleepy dreams
And I found myself revisiting last night
When I held your heart next to mine
And as dawn crept silently over us
The love I felt for you was without end
