When I woke up this morning, This thought was in my head. My wife of five and twenty years, Beside me in the bed. There’s much that I am thankful for- A roof, and meal to eat- My family safe beneath that roof, The fellowship so sweet. My health, it’s good considering- The miles I’ve left behind. Thank God that drugs and drinking Destroyed not my mind. I glad I was a cowboy, I’m glad I know the West... I’m glad that I’m still married- And friend, I must confess.... She should have left me years ago The way I’ve treated her. She’s been to me an angel, I’ve been to her a cur. In spite of those mistakes I’ve made My children love me still, And by the grace of God above- I trust they always will. I’m thankful for the truck I drive The boots upon my feet, The hat I got almost for free To shade me from the heat .I’m thankful for the friends I have Their number may be few- But past experience has proved Their love for me is true. I’m thankful for the line of work The Lord to me has gave- But more than all the things above I’m thankful that I’m saved. ------------------ Live large, people! ~GS~ http://www.geocities.com/montcogunslinger/HomePage.html |
