"all the same faceless person." amber skies, bitten by despair noiseless, voiceless worn grey by sitting in the filth our spirit, like our clothes. then as the sun comes up the bright gawdy thing gentle, protective night flown away throughout the earth dirt ridden with shells and scrapnel swirls of crimson. without sleeping one second all night don my boots and uniform into the trenches. overhead the whirring of destruction on the ground simpering grown men crying begging not to die here. teeth clenched in fury muscles release an assault bullets, screams. they approach with their foreign tongue their familiar lamentations on their faces, the same look of desperation i shut tight my eyes and fire into all the same faceless person ------------------ "Come night, come darkness, for you cannot come too soon or stay too long in such a place as this." roxane, I can't believe no one has replied to this yet, it's so well spoken and so true. Nicely done ------------------ Alis volat propriis (She flies with her own wings) |
