Today was a winter crisp kind of day
The kind that make wearing sweaters a must
While I was at work, the leaves were at play
They waved at me with each and every gust

I sat here today amidst my papers
My thoughts ever returning to you, love
Remembering smiles and silly capers
It seems like that’s all I ever think of

I look forward to the rains arrival
Simply because of the puddles they make
You evoked my inner child’s revival
It’s been so long since she felt so awake

I’m still in awe of your pure love for me
It’s in your arms that I’m finally free
