From across the oceans
already ahead of your time

knowledge of the ages
my help not asked for long

compassion abounds
my nature coarse

emotions expressed
mine in check

stoic stands against adversity
the fight gone out of me

for you a decade
half century for me

many years ahead
mine slipping away

we differ in feature
but not in heart

this world you will conquer
a piece I took for me

you’ve taught me many things my son
I can feel your mothers tears of pride

I pray to God when she thinks of you
her heart receives the answer

this boy you bore
knows you in his heart

I love you son
the man you’ve become
and the father you will be

This is a lovely expression of your love for your son. Surely the son is aware of such love.
