THIS EQUATORIAL NIGHT Warm breezes off the moonlit bay this equatorial night The near-still waters gently reflect the crabbers' lantern light Sparkling waves and sparkling sky so sumptuous to our eyes The Southern Cross ablaze in the equatorial skies We sit on darkened sands on this night of Easter Eve Such an indelible memory these visions are to leave And we hear the glorious sounds which overflow and pour From a church packed with worshipers out to the opened doors Strains of the "Messiah" well within our reach Penetrate the salty air and saturate the beach No song or harmony more beautious have I ever heard And the resounding "Alleluia", more passionate than any word If it were possible to bring you here to this humble place I'd love to see the splendor reflected on your face At the spontaneous grandeur of the sound and sight As we sit upon the beach on this equatorial night. This is beautiful, Elizabeth. I don't think this stayed on top long enough for anyone else to see it! Denise |
