It's been a long while (since the summer) since i was on here so i thought i would say a hello and Merry Xmas to all. Lying Still On the dark field, in blood spilt long, Lies a great army, a legend, a song. Yet amid their screams, forgotten the wrong, Some sort of profit gained from the lifeless throng Of bodies lying still. What gain in loss? What profit in death? Blades that sing proud, Blades that steal breath. Minstrels legends string tales of War's glory... A million battles fought to live the story. Closed is the book, lifted is the wool, Drown we now slowly in a blood filled pool. But when asked why we fight, when asked why we kill, We answer with wrongs of right and show with acts of thrill... We answer with bodies lying still. < !signature--> --------------------- "What dreams may come?" Guiltborn [This message has been edited by guiltborn (edited 12-25-1999).] |

Nice to have you home for the holidays, Guiltborn! Those last two lines are a great ending to the poem-very true. Elizabeth Nail to the mast her holy flag, Set every threadbare sail- And give her to the god of storms, The lightning and the gale! -Oliver Wendell Holmes |

Very powerful and sad piece. War is such a tragedy, that's for sure. Denise |
