Just an Old Habit Shall I shed more tears Thought I used them up over the years I felt the need so strongly today When my old love was a foot away To embrace To kiss her face Press her body to mine Fell her fingertips tickle my spine But I can predict without fail Like pinching a cat's tail The claws would have come unsheathed Only scratches would I have received My old heart plays tricks with me Was not love, only old habit you see My love was a shallow thing So easily was made to take wing I remember vaguely its flights Through a thousand sleepless nights Was not hard to close that door I just don't care anymore |

Sometimes what we thought was love was just habit or convenience, not the lasting love that satisfies the soul. Great poem, Tom. Denise |

Wow!...Words from the heart here...Wish I could offer words of magic but hugs are a lot easier.. HUGS Don't ask me where I'm going, just listen when I'm gone and far away you'll hear me singing softly to the dawn. |
