More than twenty years ago You stole into my heart... You crept in there, quite unawares Unlike old Cupid’s dart. Our love was doomed right from the start It never could exist- Your face goes with me everywhere, We’ve never even kissed. I’ve held you every night, my love- When we were far apart. You’ve carved a niche so deeply You live within my heart. I’ve touched you oft in passing... Somehow I sense it’s true, That in your heart, you yearn for me The way I long for you. Unrequited love they say- Can drive a man insane... Perhaps, my love, they tell the truth You’re messing up my brain. I know I’ll never have you, I’ll never even try... But I had to tell you how I feel, Before I said Goodbye. I’ll ride into the sunset, I’ll do it once again And as I ride, I’ve held inside The tears that should have been. So in my heart, I’m holding you, And basking in your charms, In truth, forsooth, I’m here alone With these two empty arms. |

You have such a way with words. Your writing is always powerful, emotional. It matters not how strait the gate; How charged with punishments the scroll; I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul. --W.E. Henley |
