It Goes Without Saying ~Marge Tindal~ 1999 He was a man of few words, she knew it when they met. It seemed he never opened up and much to her regret ... all he ever said, when asked of his love for her was 'It goes without saying.' Do you love me, she wanted to know. 'It goes without saying.' he said. She never could get an answer other than that one line. Through the years of raising kids, of decisions to be made, 'It goes without saying'. was the only answer he ever gave. Needing reassurance she begged to get even a sigh. No matter what the situation she dreaded his reply. 'It goes without saying'. She wanted just once to hear him say that he loved her. He didn't volunteer so she asked. 'It goes without saying' ... was all he said. The children grown and on their own, she tried to light young love's fire. Persistent though she was when she asked, "Do you love me?" 'It goes without saying', he said. He came home one evening, tired from the heat of the day. The house was dark, the lamps not lit, panic filled his heart. Flinging open the door, the first thing that caught his eye was a note propped on the table. His hands trembled as he reached for it. In her beautiful script, her words tore at his heart. 'It goes without saying' ... and then it's gone. ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Geez, what a guy! He's lucky she put up with him for as long as she did! It's a three-word phrase that is not that hard to say and everyone deserves to hear it. Anyway, Marge, well written. Nail to the mast her holy flag, Set every threadbare sail- And give her to the god of storms, The lightning and the gale! -Oliver Wendell Holmes |

Everyone should try it at least three times a day. Thanks. ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Another sad one. Some people don't realize how important it is to hear those three words. But most people who can't say it still feel it. I guess that's the most important thing! Another great poem, Marge! Denise |

Sweet Seymour - I am inspired everyday by a lovely parlay of poets sharing and of love wearing a softer look when one looks my way. Thank you for your observations. Quite a seer you may be. Actually, I think I may have a crush on my little muse ! And God knows he's here all the time ! *G* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Hoot - The muse I use is no recluse, he lives within my heart. He comes he goes but mostly he inspires. He shows me what I cannot see, just by shining friends thoughts back on me. He thinks, he winks, but he never blinks. He said that he would really be very glad to visit with thee. However, his heart belongs to little ole' me. So if you see my little muse take his thoughts and make quick use. He's promised that he will return when your midnight oil is burned. ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

I find it so hard to understand why it is hard for anyone to say "I love you" When I love, I cannot say it enough... Great piece Marge!! A soul that writes from the heart and shares it, truly gives a gift extraordinaire! Shannon |

Pepper - For the life of me I'd have to agree. The words only number three. I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU So easy to say even when we may have been hurt time and again. I implore anyone to say them aloud ... then share with another to bring sun to their cloud. No matter how often given, they are the words of the sage ... Little I love you's written all over the page. ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

I'd happpily Await his call Seeking inspiration, That is all I've seemed to lost My will to write I've no muse, No words, No thoughts, No light So send him on Along my way I'll borrow him For just one day Then send him on Right back to you For I know His heart is true |

Hoot - Do you see what he has done? He's already come your way. He brings lovely thoughts for you to pen on this very day. He's a menacing little rascal, when you want to rest ... but when he visits get ready, to pen your very best. That's what he expects, it's simply how he's built. My visiting muse will know when it's time to return to my quill. Enjoy the verse he brings share it with me on break of day. I cannot wait to see the verse he'll have you say. He'll come to you in slumber deep ... he'll send you rising to your feet. With pen in hand you must make time .. for he does not tarry with his rhyme. Open up, let him in ... he'll leave when you are done. Do not be surprised to see, outside, the rising sun. Good luck girl. Remember you asked. The merry muse comes in with task. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |
