I took time to consider-
Then I had to tell my heart,
Decisions I’d been making-
Were tearing me apart.
One can’t live on "ought-to-be’s"
Or, “Boy, I wish it were’s”
It tends to rake the concience
Like the Devil wearing spurs.
Middle age, and crazy
Go hand in hand I’m told.
Something I cannot explain-
Has surely took control.
I had to make my mind up
The choice I had was plain...
Die from all those daydreams
Or live on with my pain-
I’d rather live another day-
and see what it will bring.
The hazy days of autumn,
The fresh ones of the spring.
Trying to live on might-have-beens,
Might pretty well compare-
With living in a vacuum,
Instead of breathing air.

I tend too much toward other things myself.  Perhaps that's why I'm reading poetry at one in the a.m.  I enjoyed it.

Gunslinger, I feel like I've been there also, and we both got the T-shirts..Another
beautiful, thoughtful work of the Heart..I just know you must write from experiences or they could not be that "Real"   "A man cannot tell of where he has not been"...

While I see nothing wrong with dreams (they keep me going sometimes) eventually we do tend to crash into reality....
"Die from all those daydreams
Or live on with my pain-"
