The Code of the West is to win ‘em- With your poise and your outdoorsy charms. With the West Texas moon to bedazzle The girl that you hold in your arms. A man tips his hat to the ladies- And rises to give them his seat.... And calls all the girls. “little darlin’” And makes them those promises sweet. The Code makes provision for lovin’ It’s fine for the Rodeo dance- There’s no place within it for lastin’ And the hand rides alone to the ranch. The Code of the West is for sparkin’ And winnin’ a young cowgirl’s heart- But sadly it’s lacking in substance... And dooms the two love birds to part. The Code of the West is a killer- Administers sorrow and pain- The cowboy rides into the sunset- And leaves the girl cryin’ again. You ask me what makes me so certain? Time after time , I confess- That I’ve been the lonely cowpuncher- Heartbroke by the Code of the West. |

Excellent, gunslinger. That IS the code of the West, and the South. No more need to ride off into the sunset, though. Spark 'em, woo 'em and stand by 'em, the perfect combination. |
