I've been in the thralls of helping care for my new grandson, and also needed a few days to think. But from all the e-mails, some souls were concerned, and so I wrote this poem to show how much the Passionate Poets Forum has meant to me.

Passionate Poet's Place

I'll never find another place
With open heart and open door
Where sands of heavy chalice
May overflow and welcome pour

I'll never learn another means
To voice my spirit's malcontent
For one who is so softly spoke
A timid spirit's precious vent

I'll never know another way
To say what's really in my heart
For poetry is the only wind
To sweep my thoughts to swift depart

I'll never have another ear
So patiently to hear my word
With eager heart and willing read
Intent as poets' quick absorb

I'll never know another soul
Whose thoughts with mine intertwine
Who understands so readily
The inner workings of my mind

I'll never soar again so high
As on the words of sheer delight
A verse conceived by such a mind
Fills my hour with perfect light

I'll never see another star
So spendid to my wanting eye
As the humble starlight softly spread
By the poet's tender lullaby

I'd never known content before
I'll never know another peace
To soothe my poor unquiet soul
And put my heart and mind at ease

I'll never know another field
Not even sparrow interrupts
As this, the poet's secret place
A field that's laced with buttercups

Elizabeth Santos

I would like to thank those who's very kind comments I have not responded to, so as not to bring those poems to the top. Thank you all very much

Ah Lizzy, this is a beautiful piece and I'm glad you're back as poetic as ever!

You are a poet's poet my friend - to quote someone I know...

Beautiful poem, Elizabeth.  Every line spoke out.  Indeed, your soul is unquiet.  It shouts out poetry!

LOL! If you knew my student income you'd cringe...

Coming to Passions and being miles away from some of my now closest friends has made me regret for the first time in my life being in NZ!

You're just too kind, Liz.

Your words, a breath
so sweet to hear
from a poet dear
to all here
at Passions.

In the dew of little things,
the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.

Elizabeth,
You have an epic poem here, my dear.
That, I would make very clear.
Your magic touch that sings so sweet,
It simply sweeps me off my feet.
Your knack, your feel, your sense, appeal,
All of these from you I'd steal.

Sy,
No need for you to ever steal
You've got that knack and much appeal
You have the feel and magic touch
But if sense is something you need much
With your compliments you've honored me
And I'd gladly give you some for free
In fact i'd give the common kind
Since I have such a common mind

You knew I'd show up afterwhile
to let you know you made me smile.
To give your heart a gentle squeeze
and spirit's presence on the breeze.

In case you have not figured out,
you are the poet we talk about.
Fair Elizabeth, gentle and kind,
you are always on my mind.

Heartfelt love for poetry's song
keeps us close where we belong.
Now without further adieu ...
I bid a poet's wish for you.

Poetic thoughts to whet your palette,
hammered out with softest mallette,
Bocelli's voice ringing true,
doesn't hold a candle to you.

Marge,
Thank you, dear, you are so kind
I'll surely keep your verse in mind
You've been so patient with my emotions
On your shoulder I've cried an ocean
And you just bounce right back to me
And always write so happily
You always tell what's really true
It's nice to have a friend like you

Elizabeth, you can take how much this group means to you, then multiply it by a thousand or two, and you will get the answer to how much you mean to us.

To the world you might be just one person but to one person you might just be the world.

Elizabeth, I'm glad all is well! I just got your email! Got home late from work, installed a scanner, (can't figure out how to work it, no book, just a lot of on line help which is to me no help!) and then got a phone call that my mother-in-law was rushed to the hospital with chest pain. She's on her way home now, they treated her for high blood pressure, so hopefully all is well now...geeze, what a night. Your poem is beautiful! And you mean as much to us as we mean to you! Take care and enjoy your new grandson!

Hoot, Thank you much

Denise, Sounds hectic, almost like my house. Thanks for your concern but my health is great! I'm not back to work yet, which doesn't seem to bother the employees any! I may just retire. I'm enjoying this too much!
Hope to see you soon, one way or the other.
Thanks for your e-mails

Thank you, first knight. Your words are so kind, but I feel like I'm always saying the wrong thing, especially to those who don't understand my humor. Anyway, this poem is true, and I thank you for your comments.

Elizabeth, my friend -

I've heard there is a rumor
one might not
understand your humor.
Why, for the life of me
I'd never understand
how that could be !

For words said simply
from the heart ...
are all I hear you say,
but then if I tried to decipher them
I might find them in disarray.

Intriguing, beguiling, lovely,
that's what I found on close inspection.
Oh yes, I forgot to mention
ABSOLUTE PERFECTION !

Keep that humor rolling gal !

Sometimes it's hard to tell if someone is being serious or humorous when we have no voice inflection..... My rule of thumb is... always figure on the humorous angle... It's much more fun...

Marge,
Most of the time you make me laugh, but once in a while you make me cry. But you are always there and have been so dear a friend,
Thank you
Liz

Nan, I hope everyone does the same. If not, I'm in trouble
