the glass paperweight Only the glass seperated her from the cold of the falling flakes and she watched by the warmth of the fire as they softly settled, merging her world into a single landscape of white. So beautiful and peaceful it seemed a dream in her usually upside down world. She closed her mind to everything but the white of the falling snow and his melodic soothing voice in the receiver held to her ear. His voice calmed and unnerved her all at the same time. She could listen to him and laugh with him for hours but she shivered at the effect he had on her body, from the anticipation of the first hello's and long after the words good bye she desired him beyond reason it seemed, for they had never gazed eye to eye, but her body screamed to her of it. As she watched the snowflakes settle softly, she mused of his world, his passion and his laughter. His descriptions of life lived in the sunshine made her wish she was there...with him listening to the stories of snow back in her world. after replacing the receiver on the hook she sat, for uncounted minutes watching the falling flakes until the headlights and the tires crunching the stillness of the snow startled her. Her heart pounded her mind clouded, the scene outside no longer peaceful and with each step he took she felt her smile crumble. The man that had cause the laughter and desire, that moments ago had seemed so real now was very evidently and sadly so, too miles away and she wished, as she gazed at this approaching figure, that the snow would swallow her, the glass encircle her and his hurt could never again penetrate. < !signature--> ©1999 Iloveit [This message has been edited by Iloveit (edited 12-13-1999).] |

This really touched me Iloveit, so romantic, so sad, so hopeful and yet the ending leaves your heart crying. |

You deserve sunshine and laughter, Lovey... or cuddling by the fire as the snow falls. No one deserves fear, least of all you! |

Iloveit: Me too my friend...it was really snowing here about 2 hours ago, like one of those magical scenes you see in ornaments, beautiful, if it settles, which I doubt, want to build a snowman with me?.. Or, you could help me paint the fir cones silver and gold, roast a few chestnuts...I'm trying here you know.. Big HUSG for you Yesterday is but today's memory and tomorrow is today's dream... |

There was a lot of snow here..but it wasn't necessarily about snow...weird how our thoughts are so close and yet so far, eh? Appreciated your comments in my poem. |

You always manage to touch me with your poetry...somehow I missed this one earlier. I especially like the second half (sadly). |
