Frailties of the flesh
led to my demise.
I wander afresh
across fields of lies.
At every crossroads
a choice must be made.
No matter the goads
my rage must be stayed.
I travel a path
that is paved with pain
In despair I laugh
at what was to gain.
For the road I walk
will lead evermore
to actions that balk
the Light I adore.
In shadows I live
to avoid that Light,
it takes all I give
then it steals my might.
No judge can there be
to immoral crime
nor do the blind see
before comes their time.
Closed minds open first
to sins of the past;
Justice slakes no thirst
upon dies miscast.

Don't despair, for there is still much to gain. Excellent verse, as per your usual.

"Closed minds open first
to sins of the past;"
How true those words. There is nothing harder to overcome than the reputation earned by ones past mistakes. Well stated words Scott.

I too want to echo all the above!  The title pulled me in, and I liked what I read !  Powerfully moving as all your work is !  Thanks for the trip - deep & dark it was!
