What we had was special, I can't believe it's gone.
Deep inside my heart, the battle rages on.
My pain turns to anger, then to disbelief.
The time we had together was far too short and brief.

Life was filled with laughter whenever you were around.
But now loneliness is the silence of a heart that makes no sound.
Two hearts once tied together have now split apart.
And inside my broken one, you'll find fragments of my heart.

My yesterdays that were once my dreams of tomorrow,
Have been left behind in tears and sorrow.
No amount of tears could wash away the pain.
Now memories of what once was, are all that remain.

My illusions of love are now tattered and torn,
As these heart strings of mine have been frayed and worn.
But what hurts the most and still makes me cry,
Is that when you left, you never said good-bye.

Wonderful poem Eloise!     I know how much it hurts when people don't say goodbye.  The other thought that comes to mind is when you lose a loved one and never got to say goodbye.  Both are very hard to deal with, but you WILL move on eventually

The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there IS to celebrate.

Eloise -

I'm so sorry for your pain.
Nothing makes it okay to leave without
saying goodbye.
Your thoughts were well said, my friend.
Love and hugs to you - ~*Marge*~

This is an excellent poem displaying lots of passion.  I wanted to say that you made me think of two special people in my life.  One that left and didn't leave a note and didn't say goodbye and another that did say goodbye and left a note and still wanted to keep in touch.   Many times after the first left without saying goodbye I thought to myself..if only she had just said goodbye.   Now the second leaves and says goodbye and I realized in my case its not a goodbye or lack of goodbye that hurt me or was important to me.  The challenge is facing the truth as to what part I played in the failure of this relationship.  Each time I want to do better and if the fault is with the other person I need to improve my selection capabilities...yet my relationshiops seem to fail again and again sometimes for the same reasons. I've had too many goodbyes.   James

No, tears cannot wash the pain away....but time will. Bless our resilience. Excellent poem, Eloise.

Your words flow to all the right places....Maybe in those words someone may take that extra step and say good-bye to someone while they are leaving their life.  In all the good-byes I have found it is a risk that we all take...... that it may come when we don't want it to.  Makes me wonder what is harder after all the good byes.....Is it saying Hello wondering if the good-bye will come?.....or the Good-bye at the end that did come.< !signature-->

I can't imagine the horror of losing a loved one that has left without saying goodbye but I do know the pain of losing a mate and not being able to say goodbye.  I feel your pain.  Time is the great healer with the Lord's help.  Another loved one will come into your life and the pain will cease, but the heart is never the same somehow.  God Bless you during this holiday season.  I know how rough it can be.  I cried through both Christmas and New Years last year.

Shine a light and darkness disappears.

Adversity is a great character-builder, and a can bring out great poetry as we see here.
But that is so little consolation at this time - I know that.
There is no substitute for a gentle hand on your shoulder - you have mine, for what it may be worth.
Be strong.

Very sad indeed Eloise    but beautifully written....

This is an excellent piece you've penned, Eloise. I know the feelings you express. Great job.
