Madam Chair, We Are Unanimous

The meeting was called to order.
The Committee was all ears.
Madam Chair reported to them
That some dues were in arrears.

Then they studied the agenda
And some members, each in turn,
Said, "There's not much for us to do here;
I therefore move that we adjourn."

Then the quietest of the members,
In the corner, raised her hand.
"Why adjourn," she asked them shyly.
"We've no purpose, let's disband."

Madam Chair, who was indulgent,
Asked gently, "Do you mean admit
That it's absolutely useless--
This committee on which we sit?"

Well, the members couldn't stomach
An admission such as that,
So back to the agenda
They returned in seconds flat.

And, though they had no business
Of pressing urgency before,
Now they discovered, issues,
Tasks and problems by the score.

Remember this committee,
Or you'll have yourself to blame
If you find your service useless
Because you haven't learned the game.

Guess we all need a little motivation now and then, hmmm? Good poem

I am a member in good standing of that committee... seems like we meet every week.
