In another time your soul was the pillow
my head came to rest upon with the night
The flame you shared cast off a brilliant glow
even midnight smiled and basked unafraid in your light

Each morning the sun rose and showed off
pink hued clouds and lavender skies
but when they gazed upon you they faltered
jealous of colors they had never seen except in your eyes

And though your eyes do not come to rest upon me any longer
and see in me the things you held so dear
The memories I have of you are no less stronger
You are just as close to me as when you were near.

Though there are times I wonder if I rustle through your mind
and if the memories we had together are old and faded
Like a photo that sits in an album discolored by time
Or snow slowly melting from what the rain did

For many will go on with their lives searching
for that segment of puzzle that finishes their rhyme
I can wander my whole life and keep on looking
But that piece is about to raise her eyes to mine

Beautiful imagery in this! "In another time your soul was the pillow
my head came to rest upon with the night" I love those lines.  The ending was great!

 It matters not how strait the gate;
How charged with punishments the scroll;
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
