As I stand on the edge of a river, I trust that it shall remain calm, As I wish to throw my heart upon it, And watch it float down stream. I hope I shall see it another day. Without my heart, I’m but an empty shell. ‘Twas my heart that became to heavy to bear, It had made me love another man It was my weakness So it had to be cut free from my chest Now that I’m free from guilt The river to which my heart flowed upon, Is tainted by the shame of my father. I had betrayed his seed, The life that had made me. So do not judge me by What people say of me, But look into my eyes, And see the man that I once was, The man I hope to become, whole again someday. |

I wish I had the courage to tell him. |

The pain and despair in this is evident. Great writing. Denise |
