A Magic Dragon And A Little Girl
~Marge Tindal~ 1999

A magic dragon and a little girl,
what a lovely pair they make.
They glide in sweet contentment now
on God's majestic lake.

The dragon puffs and snorts
and the little girl laughs with glee.
They run, they jump, they frolic now,
in a land called Honalee.

I sit on the shore and watch,
a smile where tears have been.
I long to join their laughter,
carried to me on the wind.

The dragon carries Shelly.
She smiles as they turn to go.
Of all the things she left me,
her memories remain 'just so'.

Glide on in merriment, little one.
Play on the lake of God's sky ...
I will wait here on the shore
but, I'll see you by and by.

She returns to me on memories.
It's as though she surely knew,
that learning to live without her
would be the very hardest thing ...
I'd ever have to do.

Oh, how I remember the joy.

Saxoness -
Thank you.  Shelly was a very special young person in my life.

Hoot -
Amazing that you remember the very character that was a symbol between Shelly and I.
She was diagnosed with a rare cancer at the age of 16 and lived until she was 22.
Our friendship was very special.
She left more than she took.
She remains in my heart for all time.
Thank you for your thoughts.

Instant thoughts of Peter, Paul, and Mary... A very heart wrenching piece… sorry that you had to experience such loss.  Although it comes to us all, it just shouldn't come so soon.  I bow to you and yours for a well-written poem from the heart of your soul.

Ah Marge...This is such a beautiful tribute to your lovely Shelly.

A soul that writes from the heart and shares it, truly gives a gift extraordinaire!

Martie -
Thank you. I was sure it would tug at your heartstrings, as Shelly did with mine.

Suthren -
'He brought him string and sealing wax
and other fancy stuff'.  We shared many
frolics.

Andrew Scott -
Thank you.  The smiles outnumber the tears.

Pepper -
Thank you so much.  She was easy to love.
The soul of an angel who lived in my life
for a while ... in my heart forever.

Gunslinger -
Thank you, Slinger.
She far outshined this tribute.
