The First Snowfall There were snowfalls elsewhere, earlier, I know but the first snowfall here, a vision in a show of beauty, light and merry, absolute glee, as the frost-white snowflakes gently encircled me. Wet large snowflakes, an artist's pure delight came down 'round my head late into the night, half-dollar sized, and flung from angels' hands drifted to my corner, fell upon the land. Now in mornings' light, the vision still remains, snow clinging to tree limbs, the world is not the same, and 'tho it should disappear, and melt its merry way, I am glad to have been here, just to see this day. ©KRJ 5 December 1999 ------------------ Sunshine Look, then, into thine heart, and write ~~~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow |

"flung from angels' hands"...I love that, Sunshine. I've never really seen snow...and now you've got me wanting to find some! It's not the love you fear, but the fall from the height~Edwin McCain |

I love it, Sunshine. Can't wait to see some more snow around here! Nail to the mast her holy flag, Set every threadbare sail- And give her to the god of storms, The lightning and the gale! -Oliver Wendell Holmes |

Sy, now I will keep it, As Pepper says "pretty picture" and Caroline likes the angels, and Elizabeth thinks snow's a keeper; but Mike says I should shovel it all onto Ohme's yard, while denise simply likes the fact that I was keeping guard. Thanks everyone! Sunshine Look, then, into thine heart, and write ~~~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow |
