Purgatorial Incarceration

Beating Still

teeter
at the cusp
of failed dreams
shattered by fate

witness
the balancing act
between sanity
and true happiness

challenge
my heart beating still
not still beating
pangs of inspiration

impart
the reckless folly
of ageless wisdom
to life-aged youth

cry
at bitter drama
changing the truth
to numbing lies

smile
as the untruths
cooly boil away
into obscurity

laugh
with renewed hope
of untarnished futures
and glittering love

sigh
relieved at the release
of anger
of hatred
of envy
of spite
of the past
that is no more
shall never be again
as is best
for shouldered reminiscence
is a burden too weighty to wear
when ones faces forward
instead of behind

rejoice
for the tunnel ends
with blinding light
that is welcome

Christopher I'm glad to see a bit of hope and light has come to you. I hope you're doing alright!

I am impressed.
I really am.
And happy for you.
That light does exist for all of us.
You seem to be on the road to finding it, Chris.

I'm so glad it is. Because I would have to perform CPR..and I don't know how to do that so I'd have to hire the Baywatch babes to do it..so, yes, I'm glad......(great poem by the way..did I forget to mention that? I know!)

I am impressed, and I'll admit a bit surprised at the free verse -- but you did pull it off well, didn't you?

Words to live by, my friend, truly.

Always nice to see the lighter side of you, Chris. That alone, make me smile. Good job.

I enjoyed this very much. I'm fond of the style too, but of course, wouldn't I be? *winks* Thanks for sending this my way. I think I needed to read it.

There is a burden I feel the weight of. Would there be anyone to share it?
