Dewey Doppling knew all the rules For how to do this and that. And Dewey corrected rule-breakers Before the drop of a hat. There's the example of Kirk Kirpdrock, Who was dewey's bosom friend. He said, "Dewey, I'll loan you five." "The word," said Dewey, "is 'lend'." Dewey's true love promised that she Would meet him and run away. When she arrived in a white dress, He fled: It was after Labor Day. The end came when he saw a man Drop a styrofoam coffee cup. "Say, there's an anti-litter law," Dewey said. "You should pick that up." The man chortled through broken teeth And a forward step he took. He lifted Dewey by his neck And shook and shook and shook. When Dewey's brain was scrambled, The man said, "I believe in rules, And the one I believe in most is Never countenance fools." [This message has been edited by Dom Mart (edited 12-03-1999).] |
