I took time to think it out Before I pulled my ring... off my left ring finger- And I gave the thing a fling. I watched the diamond glittering While sailing through the air. And knew there was a whole lot more Than jewelry going there. Eighteen years of toil and tears All going down the drain- A lot of happy times together Mixed in with the pain. chorus: I’ll pack my bags and drive away and hear this sad refrain: Eighteen years of toil and tears going down the drain. All couples have their hard times I guess that we did too.. But somehow things were not as rough As long as I had you. How can two people so in love- Fall out of love again? Eighteen years of toil and tears going down the drain. chorus: http://www.geocities.com/montcogunslinger/HomePage.html [This message has been edited by Gunslinger (edited 11-30-1999).] |

This is a song for sure. I can even hear it. |

How very heartbreaking, Gunslinger. It works nicely as both a poem and a song. ------------------ Nail to the mast her holy flag, Set every threadbare sail- And give her to the god of storms, The lightning and the gale! -Oliver Wendell Holmes |
