Reflections As he stared into its depths Drawn in by its many images And hypnotised by its reflections Each shattered piece – a different turn in his life As he gazed upon the mirror cracked. There in front were pieces of his life or what might have been, He could clearly see behind one of his reflections, A world of endless fields, rolling hills, and mountain streams So he stepped inside and looked around He took in the mountain air, His bare feet wet with mountain due His body free of clothes Where daisies topped with golden flares of sunlight Their petals sown in with silver thread As they pushed there way up between his toes. He ran through grasses of emerald green, Where droplets of pearls danced on his bare skin. He thought he was flying like an eagle through the sky, As far as his eye could see, There below were magnificent mountain valleys, Coloured by the stains of falling rainbows Mountaintops covered in ice cream The mountains themselves made of chocolate fudge, The sky, held a golden disk of light, Set against a sky of magnificent blue The sweet smell of freedom he had craved for all his life. Was here surrounding him, embracing him. But he realised that this freedom in all it splendour, Its vastness of all the treasures that nature can provide Is no freedom at all, without those to share in its beauty and greatness, There were other dreams for him to explore though Other feelings inside him to interact with Other pieces of this shattered mirror to look into. |
