To a poet who has stopped writing I knew you had stopped, there was, after all, the perceptible dimming of stars rainbows caught fewer eyes but rather convicted of stealing other glances languished, prison stripes in prism rain Red took up monastic vows fled wet brothel of lips Blue renounced sapphire thrills winked in cold crystal in observance of grey fast the pallid sun commits Van Gogh dawns into twilight asylums of ash dazed gardeners stare past the cyclamens while weeds crept toward their still turgid bee sweet throats against traffic brass thin cello moans its Poe silences like a buried cataleptic beautiful men no longer flex like a simile young girls’ breasts suggest couplets of no sonnet maybe when planetary press breaks down ten circulars hurtle out of print shredded by critic gravity edit rage of flailing luminary scribbled in the margins of Apocalypse archived in the rubble from posthumous ode of yours hope would draft new matter trope of verses that reverses entropy subnuclear Muse to fuel the spinning stanzas of a star Ray Lanthier, 06/13/03 |

Thank you,Ray, for sharing and welcome to Passions. We have many forums here which you will get accustomed to. This is the workshop forum, where participants complete assignments given by their incredible leader - me. Your poem does not fit into this forum. If you are posting for your poem to be viewed by members, you will want to post in the Open forum. If you are posting to receive critiques on your writing, you will want to post in the Critical Analysis forum. If you tell me which of these you prefer, I will be happy to transfer the poem for you. Again...welcome to Passion and we hope you enjoy your stay. |
