Stay, Good Sir "Please stay, good sir", the maiden said, "and rest. The weather out is frightful wet and cold; So lay thy weary head upon my breast; To venture out would only be too bold." "I've wine enough and leg-of-mutton too, The song and dancing last for most the night, I'll care and comfort thee as ladies do And later, share my bed for thy delight." "Thy offer sorely tempts me", then I said, At seeing charms surpassing all I know. "I'd love to stay the night and share thy bed, But still, I have so many miles to go." Although 'twould grant my fondest wish, I vow it, Methought the wife would simply not allow it. |
