The Soul’s Harlequin

The mask of parenthood is on my face
Severe, strict, without compassion
But I feel a tingle crawling up from my toes
Slowly finding its way up my spine
Changing into high waves of pleasure
Towards my mouth, where crystal bubbles
Burst into the air, spreading sounds of a grin
Inviting for more, larger bubbles
The soul’s harlequin is playing

Twinkling stars appear in my eyes
And rainbows explode alll around me
While the sun bursts out on my face
There’s no escape from this escapee
I’m lost in seas of laughter
Roaring laughter fills the air
Conquering all emotions but one
The soul's harlequin is playing

wow!
some piece of work...
it's graet!
it took me a while to get it...had to read it twice to get the flow...know what i mean...but it was simply beautiful...

Told ya you could do it...nice images! I really love the idea of us having a playful clown within our souls. Great concept!

The "Soul's Harlequin" - that little devil... He can have his way with us, can't he???.. This is very cute, Munda.. I can picture you trying to teach your kids a very important lesson and being so amused on the inside that you can barely keep a straight face... We've all experienced that one... I like your rendition...

Hi Munda,

Where did you ever come up with this idea. It is such a light, playful piece one simply has to read it more than once to fully appreciate it.

Well done,
Pete

Munda:

I enjoyed this.  I find myself, too often, unable to hold back my laughter when playing the stern, parental role when the kids are just so darned cute.  Thanks, Munda.

Thanks guys for reading and replying.
To my own surprise I wrote a free verse ! LOL Who would have thought I'd ever do that !

Pete, the idea came from a limerick from my epic.

Without laughter you don’t truly live
You will only receive what you give
Laughter comes from within
It’s the soul’s harlequin
To bring smiles on a face is a gift
