I'm listening, Jim - I'm listening... The class got pretty large on that free verse stuff, don't ya think? I have a feeling we're about to scare them all off, though. We're going to take on EPICS this month. That's no small venture! Ergo - March IS going to be a full month-long class, considering the theme. We'll talk about bi-monthly classes after we recuperate from this one. So, my friends - What's it gonna be? Just Jim and me? Any other brave souls out there? The train starts here..... ![]() |

Angel: If you want to try writing an classic form of poetry called an epic all you do is let Nan know right here, in this thread, and in a few days she will post an explanation of what an epic is and how to write one in this forum. Welcome to class, by the way. ![]() Jim |

Hey Nan, I want to participate, but I have one condition..if I show up late, don't blame me, blame my instructors ![]() stay cool ![]() ~~Lavada~~ p.s. is there detention here too? What kind of a question is that? Of course there is detention here. Were you hoping our teacher is a softie? There was a time we didn't have detention but that led to a corresponding lack of discipline as you might suspect. There was a certain rowdy group of boys, who shall remain nameless here. Well, to clean it up a bit and make a long sordid story somewhat shorter and more palatible to a polite audience, Nan was forced to implement some sort of discipline. Since it proved excessively difficult to get written permission for corporal punishment from all our parents, the next best option seemed to be detention. So there you have it. BTW Nan, I don't know what an EPIC is yet but if the whiffling jbouderwocky is in I guess I'll give it a go also. Hey Philip! All along they've been telling us that "detention" was another name for "homeroom"! *Humph!* Pete, you goody-two-shoes, meet me outside after school! ![]() |

Well this all sounds very...interesting...lol. I definately want to give it a go. As for the detention thing? Ah! As if she'd know if I snuck out the window! But I would really appreciate a little more information. Think of it as showing the new girl around if you will. Thanks!! AngelShell. |

Hi Angel, Glad to meet you. I'm Pete and I always was a sucker for redheads (saw your picture on your post). Had an absolutely unbelievable girlfriend in high school with fire red hair and the best set of, uh, uh, uh, CARS . . . Oops better stop there ![]() Pete What terms shall I find sufficiently simple in their sublimity -- sufficiently sublime in their simplicity -- for the mere enunciation of my theme? Edgar Allan Poe |

Well Pete, It's certainly is nice to meet you - I think! Lol, I've always been a sucker for the hero type guy, so you can save me anytime you want. Although I am some what amused by your choice of name, and considering that this is poetry workshop I think I have every right to be. But then again, in case you haven't read any of my posts, I think that I am derserving of that name too, but I like it, so there's really no harm done there. Anyway, I suppose that we really should start paying attention, I wouldn't want to get shoved on 'detention'. AngelShell. P.S: Your girlfriend in highschool, the one with the great set of....cars....if you think that was good, you ain't seen nothing yet! |

Geeze -- isn't Pete just the stud! I bet it's the understated handle "Not A Poet" that suggests humility and his intelligent charm and quick wit. What do you think Philip? Kris? Jim P.S. Pete, were they sub-compacts, mid-sized, or SUV's? Okay ... I'll be good. ![]() |

I guess, Jim, he thinks it's kinda clever to import his vehicles into this forum and lower the tone of such a revered, respected and educational experience ...... huh .. honestly some people never grow up .. ~despairing head shake~ ...... P PS Btw I always fancied a sporty little number with double air-bags ...... ![]() |

GAZONGAS! and this was before they started using all that plastic stuff, when cars were made of the real thing, you know steel and chrome and shiny paint and stuff. Shhhh, teacher's coming and she has that ruler in her hand again. Hi Lucius You're certainly welcome here.. You might opt to start with our April Fool's class.... The epic month is just about over, and it's such a monumental assignment, getting one complete in a week wouldn't be an easy chore. We'll be doing something on the lighter side in April - Is there anything you'd like us to work on?? We aim to please around here.. Welcome to Passions, btw.. ![]() You guys - no picking on the new kid in class either.. |
