O.K.,
In Balladeers absense why don't we try putting a band together. Any instrument, any form,
any meter as long as it's consistent. Try to incorporate some of the sounds the instruments make, use you imaginations, extra points for originality.

The CLARiNET'S sad SOULful WAIL
Fills SILence AND desTROYS the GALE
Of WINDS so SOFT they're BAREly HEARD
With SOUND so STRONG it's PAST all WORD

Goddess grant me the serenity to accept the things that I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

rachael,
Very nice, while I am far from being the critique master around here, I did not detect any variance in meter here, and
I think I heard a note or two.

We have a clarinet, that's good
and Rachael plays some darn good wood,
now who perhaps will join our band,
don't make me use my ampersand !

I am playing, but am too tired to make noise.  I'll try again tomorrow night.

I've always been told I play wood real good.

I blow my own horn
and sing
my own praises

as a one-man band

Playing My Mind

I hear it in my mind
replaying all those tunes
swinging on my porch thoughts
those golden afternoons

Whenever time allows
each note a secret thought
remembering all the whens
that happiness had brought.

Bang those bongos, jungle man.
Clash those cymbals loud.
Mix melodic violins
To make Stravinsky proud.
Ping piano sharps and flats.
Build a  banjo beat.
Honk those horns to represent
The music of the street.

Sultry sax can soothe the soul.
Slide that slide trombone.
Grab the rhythm of the breeze
And make it's song your own.
Soft beats of a baby's heart,
Whispers from a wife..
These are things that represent
The music of your life.

Not in fine form but glad to be back. Thank you, Moose, for keeping the homes fires burning

Why thank you, Sir! Would you mind, please, checking the poem I posted as a new topic here in the workshop for both meter, and the question addressed in the post itself. Thank you very much.

Dear Mike,

I've been hunting about, hoping to see some news about how things were going.  I'm pleased you're in good enough shape to compose a few lines and make a comment or two.  Did you get them to slip any gin in the IV line for Halloween?  Got any decent reading material, something I can do?

And no, I had trouble enough getting my head out, the last time I asked.  No repeat requests for that one.

All my best, Bob
