As a treat for all the free-versers and rhymers who want to try it, let's see some septolets! The Septolet is a poem consisting of seven lines containing fourteen words with a break in between the two parts. Both parts deal with the same thought and create a picture. Lion moving swiftly across the plain, most intent. Antelope grazing contently on his meal. Copyright © 2003 Crystal Rose Prowling, Lion woman Seducer of men. Trembling heart Naked, heat Rising from skin, Ecstasy! Copyright © 2004 Megan Lutz |

I knew this would be too easy for my all-stars. Moose, yours is brilliant and you even made it rhyme....whatta guy! Maureen, your wistful and romantic side fits this style very well.. Rachel, you certainly have a lot of "hands-on" poetry...and I like it! Alison, yours is also great. I confess I'm at a loss as to the picture your first half is painting. Help the feeble-minded out??? |

It's about the Eskimo "blanket" toss. They jump on sewn sealskin with handles and people move the sealskin up and down by the handles -- kinda like a trampoline. Eskimo would look for whale as they were tossed in the air. As they jump higher, they kick with their legs to gain more elevation. I'll do another that is easier to see. I also put a poem on the thread for the last assignment. Thank you! A |

Oars forming silent ripples on water. Breezes provide relief when summer days grow hotter . Dogs bark hysterically eager to escape the house. The moose, with babies, ignores them. - Alison |

Thank you, Sir. I am currently obsessed with my girlfriend's hands and how they are calloused and a bit rough, but she can touch me so gently sometimes that I almost want to cry. Good, happy tears, but still. ~Rachael (aka Arana) |

Of course! The Eskimo blanket toss!!! Why didn't I think of that? Thank God! I thought there was some nasty giant Eskimo up there wearing sealskin boots, kicking smaller Eskimos up in the air...thanks for setting it straight! |

I enjoyed reading all the Septolets above!!! Now I will attempt one myself. Gosh, I should have been participating in these workshops when I first joined pip! There are so many forms to learn!!! Butterfly ~ fluttering, flitting, flower to flower. Summer day. Oriole singing cheerily from the treetop. [This message has been edited by Earth Angel (07-12-2009 02:23 PM).] |

Good morning, Alison! Trying to put my thoughts into proper poetic form will be challenging for a 'free-for-all' writer like myself. ~ But I'm up for the challenge! ~ I think! Thank you for the warm welcome ~ and the kind words! I feel the same way about you and your writing! |

Balladeer ~ Thank you! I know that some of the poetic forms that you are teaching your students will be more difficult to write than the Septolet. I rather enjoyed writing this one. However, the Trilonnet is a horse of a different colour, so to speak! lol |

Alison, I see you and i have the same taste in poets. Earthy Angel has always been one of my favorite poets, too. She fits in here, better than I do. LOL! |
