I sit at my desk and look around No one is there, there isn't a sound I stare at the screen, thinking if this is it? No one to hear my cries, alone I sit I reflect on the emptiness of my life My own thoughts cutting into me like a knife My few friends have better things to do Isn't there anything else, anything new? Does anyone acknowledge that I exist? I glance once at the blade, then stare at my wrist What right or reason do I have to live? What in the world could I possibly give? My actions are lost in obscurity I'm doomed to be alone for eternity I am not a poet, I am merely one who speaks in emotion |

I don't knwo if this poem is ABOUT you, and I hate to say this (you all will think I'm crazy now> but BEEN THERE, TRIED IT...NO WAY NO HOW IS THAT ANY ANSWER. EVERYONE WILL GET SOOOOOOO MAD AT YOU, AND IT'S VERY SELFISH. JUST THINK OF ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE AROUND YOU THAT REALLY DO CARE. Thank you for your kind replies, and yes, stephani, this is about me. Depression is a daily battle for me. I did exaggerate a little though, the last time I was this close to suicide was 3 years ago. I am not a poet, I am merely one who speaks in emotion |

well.. surprise surprise... the last suicidal attempt on my part was hmm... jus a couple of months ago... a lot of poetry comes from depressed souls.. that'z just the way it is.. extreme emotions give way to creative writing... so its not uncommon to find that many in this forum have been suicidal... but everyone here has learned the importance of life, cuz if they didnt they wouldnt be here, and also if they are struggling then here is a forum where they may express themselves and have some support... im not stereo-typing or making this some kind of support group... i'm just sayin the subject of suicide comes up a lot in poetry forums like this one... but the thoughts may be overcome... and they shall be.. just hang in there.. there's alwayz hope... alwayz something to be thankful for.. alwayz somethin to live for... alwayz a hero or idol or someone to love to give you the strength... never give up... keep ya head up! Wow.... this was very powerful Travis. The way you presented your feelings in this one made it so apparent to me that, I felt your sorrow and your pain. I have never been suicidle so I couldn't give you much advice on the subject. However, talking and writing is proven to be a stress and harsh emotion reliver, so if you want to talk... you now how to get intouch with me. |

I woulda never thought that so many people here deal with depression. Most of the poetry and replies dont even hint at it. Im glad I have the support of all of you if I need it  I am not a poet, I am merely one who speaks in emotion |

I really liked the poem. Like alot of the others on the list, i too have had suicidal tendencies. But that was a couple years ago, i guess that's when i really started to write. And like some of the others said, writing does help alot. So keep writing, your style is great. "It's my heart that pounds beneath my flesh it's my mouth that pushes out this breath..."-FTE |
