Experience of a Jar Ever looking forward, Down into the valley before me. Looking through this jar of life, Vision distorted ahead of me. Looking forward to find something to fill this jar, So I can stop looking ahead, And stop to look around me. Dense forest surrounds, As I see the animals and trees around me, For the first time I can take it all in. I look down and see the tracks of those before me, Of deer and bear and moose. I can now turn and look behind me, To see all the wildlife I have overlooked along the way. Now the mason jar is old and cracked, Overflowing. Full of things I have picked up, Here and there, Along this small dirt path, Which now opens to an open country road. I emerge from the forest to find an ocean of rolling hills. I drop the jar upon the pavement, Glass shards glistening in the sun. I do not stop and kneel to pick up the pieces, For there is no need along this road, The sun has lit the way. The day, it seems, to never end. Now I look ahead and follow the road. My ex boyfriend and I put this lil piece together. It's beautiful, well in my personal humble opinion it is. |
