|Always in the shadow of the golden child|

Why can't she see me for me?
I am my own person.
I can be something big too you know!
I don't have to be another version of him.
Tears mark my face,
As I try to explain the situation.
But only my reflection notices me,
For I am the only person who will listen.
Who cares if he will go somewhere!
Don't you think I can too?
When you praise him like that too me,
You are practically saying that I wont be anything.
You say that you aren't your mother,
But you are when put him higher than the rest of us.
I just feel so worhtless knowing,
That you think he is better than me.
He is the golden child,
The one who will go to high places.
It is constant competition before you,
It's as if you want me to fail.
There is no rage hidden here,
My words are marked with grief.
For the simple fact that in your heart,
He will always be the favourite.
You lie when you say that he isn't,
But you put the 2nd and 3rd child down.
The first and last are perfection to you,
The ones you are proud to have on your arm.
I can't say this to your face,
For you will only say that I am stupid.
But my stupidty isn't always ridiculous mother,
He isn't the only valuable person on earth.
Everything he does is so great!
Everything I do is so-so.
If I saved the bloody planet from destruction,
It would still only be mild in your eyes.
I can't stand the torment,
That you place upon me everyday.
He isn't always going to be great you know!
And one day I hope you wake up and see it.

Floating gently on a cloud....
I can feel the bitterness within this poem. I am sorry you have to go through this. Don't feel inferior because of it, be the great person that you are.
Love and hugs,
