This is a tribute to all of the ANZACS that died for Australia during World War 1. For all of those who dont know, ANZAC stands for Australian New Zealand Army Corp. The 25th of April commerates the day in which they landed at Gallipoli, Turkey and many Australians and New Zealanders died there. The year was 1915.

They are the brave,
With nervous smiles upon their faces,
And the tightly strapped laces,
The men that fought at war.

Although they hesistated,
They still went to die for their land,
In all weather, mud and sand,
The men that fought at war.

Their eyes sparkled with hope,
Going on an adventure far away,
Hoping to live to see the next day,
The men that fought at war.

Although there was blood,
Their spirits still ran on high,
Moments wondering if they were going to die,
The men that fought at war.

They were the fathers,
The sons to many who cared,
So many ANZAC's were not spared,
The men that fought at war.

They were the men,
That graced the world and helped those in need,
Will always be remembered for their deeds,
They are the men that fought at war.

I did a project on the Gallipoli campaign, it really was messy, if you want to read one of the best songs ever written in my opinion, look for the lyrics to "and the band played waltzing matilda" its a fantastic account of the same thing you wrote about, it really is a great piece of work i suggest you look it up
