Caught somewhere in a lost perfect trust
Standing at the edge of a garden
Where starlight is fixed as ice
And the accacia trees surround
Are the orphans of yesterday’s sorrow.
In their eyes is the hope
Found only through a child’s heart.
And though it seems the stars
Do not care
They stain stones with their blood
As fierce testament to their love
And do bear to hear the telling
Of the orphan’s story, once concealed.
For their mother was touched
By a golden light
A medieval halo
That changed the countenance
Of a future, once upon a time revealed.
And she then abandoned her soul
In preparation for its coming.
These orphans search to this day
For the opening that lies between
The dawn of obscurity
And the deepened twilight
Of maturity.
They age a thousand years
To a day
While their season remains the same.
In each lies dormant the passing
Of time
And a destiny no one remembers.

I like this a lot, Soleil
"....between/The dawn of obscurity/And the deepened twilight/Of maturity." - among many other good lines...

I was lost in the beauty of the words! Very lovely, Soleil!

Echoing sentiments of all of the above. Very beautiful - requires second readings just to capture it all.

I'm blinking back tears. And the end is wonderful.
