The Owl

Fly by night
By day you rest
No flock for you
In your solitary quest

Wise beyond your years
Or so it seems
Have you given up on all?
Or do you still have dreams?

Who is this bird?
This bird I see
Do you long for a companion?
Or company?

I watch you fly
Wings spread in flight
So lost and alone
On this quiet night

Who is this bird?
Will you answer me?
Flying alone
Your soul is free

Who is this bird?
This bird I see
Who is this bird?
So much like me

I can just feel how much you are longing for flight, my dear! Another great offering.

Okay guys, thank you all. This is another one of those that I really don't think is very good. I only posted it because of a comment Nan made about me writing about owls. This is really the only poem I have about an owl. Thanks for your comments

Lady Hoot: I like all kinds of music, but one of my favorite bands is the Canadian trio "Rush." Back in the 70's they did a LP called "Fly By Night" which of course feature a big white owl on the cover and had a song by the same title. If I can ever find the lyrics, I'll pass them along. I think you would like them. Have a good evening!

Lovely, Ruth.... You didn't like it? I don't know anyone who really appreciates their own work. I never do...LOL
