I was beginning to lose my faith in mankind,
My feelings were not understood,
People were just blind,
No one wanted to help even if they could.

I used to believe that all you give out,
Would come back to you some day,
But when I needed some comfort,
No one would come my way.

I figured I'd be elderly
Before I saw some sign of returns
Before people thought of me
Just many more years of being burned.

Then out of the blue this week,
I had the most wonderful surprise,
It wasn't my birthday or anniversary,
I couldn't believe my eyes.

You see I don't have a printer,
To print anything I'd like to keep,
We were planning to buy one at Christmas,
Maybe then they'd be cheap.

Then earlier this week
My neighbour Louis called me to the fence,
He told me to close my eyes,
I was feeling somewhat dense.

Louis told me to put out my arms,
And in them he placed a brand new printer,
All sealed in it's box,
It was the end to my emotional winter.

It was a gift of friendship,
Done purely as a thankyou,
A thanks for all I've done for him,
Something special he wanted to do.

It renewed my faith in man,
It overwhelmed me and bought a tear to my eye,
It couldn't have happened at a better time,
It helped my heart to sigh.

My years of helping others,
Years of trying to understand,
Were finally paid back,
When I myself needed a hand.

So I can freely and truthfully say to you now,
All you give out comes your way eventually,
One day sometime just when you need a reminder,
A friend will show you the way.

So thankyou Louis for the gift of friendship,
And with your gift came my beliefs once more,
It renewed my beliefs of helping all I can,
And not to be like others who just shut the door.

Indeed Isis, the most valuable gift in the world is true friendship...hold onto it, for it is as rare as it is dear!
Good job!

What a wonderful and caring gift because he obviously listened and chose with care...so two gifts were yours, the friendship and the printer...bless him!

Isis,

Every once in a while we feel like we need to remind life that "Hey I'm here" but usually thats when life is kinda smirking back and says "I never forgot you were here". No offence though. Good piece, I liked it.

By the way I feel that way sometimes too.
