Would the Sun Still Rise? The tick of the clock Tells the sun to set And another tick Bids it set. The tide-chart on the chest Tells the waves to crash And astronomy Pushes it back. The star-map on the wall Tells the planets to spin And whereabouts to Pull their heavy weight. The book on the floor Tells what thoughts to think And why to think these thoughts, In clear italic script. Would the waves still crash Would the planets still spin? And the thoughts still think; In their clear italic script Without the how and who and why The where and when and why Without the small movements Two small hands Would the sun still rise in the sky? |

I am certain that worlds will spin even if man is convinced it is flat. I like poems that provoke thought. This did. |
