Shredded Armor

The guard ‘round my heart
once hardened like stone,
has riven apart,
no longer alone.

You bound with red thread,
latched tight to those walls.
Sang peace to my dread,
and heeded my calls.

You swept me up high;
a pyre of love.
Vowed never to lie
and named me your dove.

In your fire I soar,
blessed by your token.
I'm burned to the core,
yet never was broken.

Exquisite imagery and word choice, Chris.
"A pyre of love" - indeed.

Well done, my friend.

My friend, why don't you look into a job with Hallmark?

Thank you for the extra shot of sap into my veins.

"yet never was broken" that says it all! It's a wonder to love and be loved like that.
