I've become an awkward contradiction
because I'm hiding
behind the words
that express my true feelings
Typed letters
on a digital page
I can feel them
covering my nakedness
the sensation has me reeling
Looking in your mirror
I see my reflection
The sentences
that expose my truths
blur the features
of my face
Peel away the words
one by one
like so much discarded clothing
what is left
standing in their place?
Close your eyes
after you read my words
Imagine
I was standing before you
What image do you see?
Do the words that you used
to paint my picture
match the person
you want me to be?
