A Clown

He takes off his smile and hangs it up with his hat
at the end of the day
then sits in his easy chair
and lets his dreams take him away.
Away to the field he has planted in his mind
to roll in the clover
and watch clouds glide in the sky
but don't ask why
that this dream will soon be over.
Over when made up dream wishes cannot come true
though that is very rare
in this world inside the mind
where you can find
solitude from life's faint affairs.
