~ Don't ~

Don't tell me that you're sorry,
For I have no regrets;
Don't go out on a limb for me
Then try to hedge your bets.

Don't set your sights to win me,
For I cannot be won.
Don't try to pick my pieces up;
I haven't come undone.

Don't tell me how to finish
Before I make a start;
Don't say you love me totally
Then try to change my heart.

Don't try to solve my riddle;
My secrets are my own.
Don't tell me I should lean on you --
For I can stand alone.

Don't try to reinvent my wheel:
I am who I will be.
But look to change the way you feel,
Instead of changing me.

You said it all!

Thank you, ladies, for your expressions of appreciation ...

Any men care to comment on this...? LOL ... it really wasn't intended to be gender-specific, honest! This really isn't a bra-burner ...

LOL .... well, opposite gender comment number one ... very well said, my favorite part, "don't say you love me totally, then try to change my heart", course my bias is well known ... as far as the topic ... the gift of change is better received when freely given ...

Simply Awesome!! ...and it definitely doesn't have to be gender-specific - "People" have a tendency to try to mold others to their liking. Wouldn't it be better to find someone that you DON'T want to change???
