My mommy bought me a song bird,
It's yellow and green and white,
But this morning it wouldn't sing a word,
Something is just not right?

I went to the kitchen to tell my mom,
"My bird won't sing anymore?"
She said, "Just get dressed or you'll be late,
Pick your clothes up off of the floor."

My bird just kind of lays there?
No sound nor chirps or song,
Why doesn't my bird sing anymore?
Maybe my dad will know what's wrong.

I went into the den to ask my dad,
He knows most every thing,
"Dad" I said, "That bird I have,"
Just lays there and won't sing."

My dad replied, "I'm late for work,
Hand me my case and lunch,
And don't be late from school or else,
And hurry or you'll miss your bus."

Why doesn't my bird sing anymore,
So sweetly like he did back then?
I guess when I get home from school,
I'll just wind it up again!

Speaking of wound up - how ya doing, Toe? This was pretty good - and, like many of your other poems, had something to do with animals. hmmm - are you a Veterinarian after all?

Great poem, Toe!!!

Toe loaned his song bird to a good friend
(Trying to be kind to the other boys)
Unfortunately, Long John became too attached
And still prefers windup toys!
Toe's kindness has had repercussions
He gave one lad his own sweater to keep
And thus began an obsession
For Balladeer still loves his sheep!

Well done Suthern...yassee what all my heartfelt kindness has done? I lost my sweater, my wind up toys, and my two buddies now spend all their time with sheep and screwing with toys.

I know, Toe.... your efforts were rather wasted on those scalawags. *G* But I do applaud your kindness, sweets... And my esteem for you is even greater knowing you tried to reach the lowest of the low! LOL.

You kidding, Belle? Toe has to look UP to see the lowest of the low! I just don't understand you. Here's a poem that's not even about me, and I've been kind to you, as always, and still you take a cheap shot at me in your reply. I must tell you, our romance is on perilous ground. You're never going to win me over like this!

Sorry about your bird, Toe. Better stick with swallows.

Meaness! Just plain meaness! Yea, I'm hurt, shocked, and LMAO!!!

I think I've discovered the reason,
Suthern hasn't ensnared old Toe.
She's too quick witted with her teasin',
And he's always way too slow.

lol -

Belle - you are indeed one terrific lady.

deVine - OMG - that is disastorously funny! That is outrageous! You really nailed him! ROFLMAO@chicken

Oh Ms. DeVine, my sweet "chickadee"
I wouldn't choke you, that's just not me,
But I EAT chicken, the taste is so fine,
So spread your sweet 'thighs', Ms. Poet deVine!

I read what Toe wrote,
His message understood.
Sweet Poet deVine,
Is Chicken-lickin' good.
She has 11 herbs and spices,
She's prepared oh so well.
But she wears a perfume,
That was made by Taco Bell!

LngJhnAg and Mr. Toe
Here is one thing you should know
I am not chicken for your sea
so please don't think you'll have me

I have my standards, set so high
You'll have not, wing nor breast nor thigh
If you come near me with those things
I'll smack you both til your head rings!

Be bad boys but be careful!

hmmmphhh... all I said was that deVine was like a Kentucky Fried chicken, and her perfume smells like it was made by Taco Bell. For those of you who haven't had the priviledge of eating at a joint Taco Bell/KFC, that was a joke about cooking different foods in the same vat. So there!

deVine - I know what Toe meant, too. He was asking whether you could handle two of us taking turns teasing you. I know, I know, you are just a woman and we men shouldn't gang up on you poor helpless creatures, but we sometimes can't help ourselves (wiping nose on my sleeve as I prepare to launch into my next chauvinistic diatribe).

Talk about some serious back peddlin'... I think LJA just went negative MPH.
True you guys are funny, but ya'll be skirtin' the edge of the forum envelope. See here, be careful where ya lick or ya'll get more than a paper cut.

On a note that's more serious(not easy for me)
This poem is quite good, don't you all see!
The boy had questions unanswered as he went on his way
In his mind he made the bird a toy so he could make it through the day!

Very well written, Toe.

Oh dear Ms. deVine,
One battle does not win the war,
I tried to write this seriously,
Till you tried to make it more.
but if you insist on this little conflict,
To make it a war of words,
I'll eat ya up and spit ya out,
Okay, so I might swallow cuz you're so dear!

The poem is a gem that started my day with a smile... the responses have kept that smile glued on my face... Kudos to a backpedaling LJA, a gloating gleeful PDV... and a Toerag ready for any eating challenge!
