MMMMMMMMMM Stretching bare legs Between flannel sheets So warm from the night All sleepy like a cat Maybe even purring a little Nestling under the quilts The tip of my nose so cold As I turn to press it Against your skin Hands sliding under the covers Towards you Eyes still closed As I find your side empty I hear the fire crackling Children's voices The gurgle of a coffee pot Smiling to myself Knowing this is just a delicious dream I drift towards sleep again Then I hear you say my name Peering up Through sleep drugged eyes I focus on your smile As you bend to kiss me awake ------------------ Every man has in himself a continent of undiscovered character. I'm shivering cold here reading this, and now I'm even colder...thanks for nothing. Good poem, Izzy, even if I only wish I had flannel sheets. ------------------ Michael Anderson The coldest lies are often told in silence. |

I disagree with Michael - this is a good "warm up" piece. |

Beautiful, my bed is my "cocoon" too, I am thankful for the smooth cotton sheets, (pure white) and for the luxurious blanket as I snuggle deeper putting off rising...and for the warm man who welcomes me into his arms each morning. |

Ahhhh I am heading to bed at this very moment...and this makes me want to snuggle in flannel sheets! Of course, being in Florida, I'd have to turn the air conditioner down to the penguin setting to get the right effect! *LOL* Great poem Izzy...a perfect way to end my night ![]() ------------------ "Tread softly, for I have spread my dreams under your feet"~~William Butler Yeats |
