Mists swirling off the ground
In the midst where he is found
A dirge, a chant the only sound
Drums beating for him abound

Feathers adorn his jet-black hair
To Maidens delight they watch and stare
A tale is told of times to come
When the eagle will fly into the sun

A messenger of death, A Raven true
Will be sent for all that's been slew
A Wolf roaming the plains it has been said
Eagles flight over is a portent to death

To Wo ni ya wa kan he prayed
Asking blessing on this day
A Tehila he would choose
A kola he would never lose

As wani yetu wi night moved on
He sang of Wan ka tan ka song
`ta `h`ca, ma to and `sung ma he tu joined along
A Tehila would soon to him belong

Against the night a `ce tan flew
I sign for all that knew
Wo ni ya wa kan would grant his request
A TAWICU at his bequest

Translation:
Tehila-lover
Friend- Kola
Ta`h`ca-deer
Ma to-bear
wani yetu wi- November
Wa Kan tan ka- God
Wo ni ya wa kan- Great Spirit
`sung ma he tu- wolf
`ce tan- hawk
TAWICU- WIFE

This ~Maiden~ is friend of the Lakota.
Long may we walk in peace.

Watcher,
Thank you for the translation, without it I would be lost. Well done.

Watcher this was really neat. I don't know exactly what to call it other than Indian? Is that what this is? This was very beautiful! You should be really proud!

I could 'feel' it without the translation and 'understand' with the translation. Loved it both ways. : )
