Rape

Dark blood pools at my feet
Tears fall from swollen eyes
Water, hot enough to singe skin
But not hot enough to sterilize me
And wash away your touches
All join
To trickle down the drain
Along with my pride,
self respect
And my life

Chilling, hoot....but I believe an apt description of the moment.

Very hard to read that one but I think it is a very good idea that you posted it. That is one tough poem. Take care and talk to you soon, Ruth.

wow, this was disturbing. I could see the woman in the shower. Very sobering.

Well written though right now I cannot speak of more than rage over this vile act.

Very well done, Hoot. You painted the scene very vividly with so few words.

I was deciding whether or not to read this poem, and obviously I read it as you can see. As my stomach knots up, I recall that very moment so clearly having been there myself...As dsnyder said, you did paint the scene very vividly with so few words!

Hoot: If only the victims of these assaults weren't the ones that end up on trial: the judge being ourselves and often if you have the courage to have the attacker brought to court, the judge then becomes the world at large...

I just want to say thanks to everyone for your replies to this one....it's something I've needed to write for years and only now finally had the courage to do so

Hoot: I posted a poem quite similar to this on adult some time ago... So much more than blood goes down the drain, doesn't it? *S* And it's infinitely sad so many share these feelings.
