Wish for an Airplane

The bones and skin
fly into the endless murky
paradise of ocean where
a lighthouse sits,
sad sentinel to death.

So many lives torn
into pieces and spit
up bobbing.
To imagine the torturous
ending
is to tease the inconceivable
mystery of questions
that cannot be answered.

Sing the spirit of those
imprisoned moments and
rock them gently into a haven
where the ocean does not hold
the fear of death.

Seed pieces of understanding
and peace into
the children and mothers
and the decades of decendants
that must follow
holding this memory.

Very well done, Martie. And exactly why I don't do the airplane thing unless I absolutely have to. Must be one of the worst ways to go.

Ouch...as I am flying tomorrow for the very first time, this is one I wish I wouldn't have read...you described it well, a little too well for nervous ole me though
